There’s still time to register for our Ladies-only Midnight Walk
There are only a few days to go until the St Margaret of Scotland Hospice Ladies-Only 5k Midnight Walk – but there’s still plenty of time to register!
Taking place on Saturday, September 5, 2015, the Midnight Walk has become one of the most popular and sociable fundraising events on the Hospice calendar since it was first held in 2013. The deadline for registration is 5pm this Friday, September 4.
Almost 500 walkers donned colourful outfits and light-up headgear to bring a real energetic vibe to last year’s event – which raised more than £40,000 for Hospice funds – and organisers are hopeful of even more taking part this weekend.
A spokesperson said: “We’re delighted with the number of registrations we have so far but there is always a rush before the deadline so we’re well on our way towards last year’s figure.
“It’s a really enjoyable night out. The great thing about it is the enjoyment that the ladies get from taking part, combined with the fact it’s raising money for such a worthy cause. And it’s a flat course so anyone can do it.”
The walk, which measures exactly 5k, starts at Great Western Retail Park before moving along Great Western Road and returning from the Kilbowie roundabout.
Children are allowed to take part provided they are accompanied by a responsible adult and this year, the entry age has been lowered to six years old.
The evening begins at 9.45pm with a registration process in the B&Q Car Park, followed by entertainment from 10.30pm, hosted by radio personality Steve McKenna.
As the build-up to the walk continues, a keep-fit session with a qualified gym instructor will take place at 11.40pm before the walk itself begins at midnight.
After completing the route, the ladies will be presented with a medal. Refreshments will then be provided, including a barbecue.
Entry is open to ladies only – sorry gentlemen – and participants MUST register. Children aged six to 16 years old may enter if accompanied by a responsible adult.
The deadline for registration is 5pm on Friday, September 4, with registration for adults £15 and children £5. Commemorative T-shirts will be provided for all participants. Each participating adult is asked to raise £30 in sponsorship, which can collected through the Hospice Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/smh if preferred.
All entrants are asked to complete a registration form, which can be obtained by contacting the Hospice fundraising team on 0141 435 7018 or email@example.com.
Male and female volunteers are also required for the evening to help with stewarding, registration and catering. If interested, please call 0141 435 7018 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
