The Volunteer Training Course will be
a series of four sessions each lasting two hours.
The aim of the Course is intended to be a broad introduction
to St. Margaret of Scotland Hospice and the role of the
Volunteer. The Course will be a foundation for further
training and development.
Learning Outcomes:
To gain a basic knowledge and general understanding
of the:

Function and structure of St. Margaret of
Scotland Hospice
-
Basic principles of Palliative Care
-
Health and Safety requirements both personal and
organisational
-
Communication skills required when communicating
with patients, families, the wider Hospice Team,
the public in general and whilst representing the
Hospice
-
The importance of caring for self
Practical experience in your area of preference will
be an integral component of your training. It is important
you have an opportunity to test your preference and meet
the Team of Volunteers you will join.
All Volunteers must complete the training course prior
to commencing the role of Volunteer. This is an important
function of our preparation and support.
