Our provision of Hospice
and Palliative Care services includes appropraite
grief and bereavement support for the patient, family
and other carers during the life of the patient
and continuing after death.
In addition, we offer the same support to bereaved
people within the local community, which is defined
by the following areas - G3, G11, G12, G13, G14, G15, G60, G62, G81, and
parts of G20 and outwith Glasgow, as far as and
including Dumbarton.
Access to the Service - This service is essentially an opt-in service.
Our aim is to make potential users aware of the
service so that they can contact us and receive
the support they need at the appropriate time.
We are happy to take referrals from the following
sources:
Self-Referral - anyone experiencing grief may
contact us and request an appointment. Hospice
staff will inform relatives and carers of patients
about this service. However, it may be some time
later that they feel the need of support. At this
time, they should contact us directly.
We also accept referrals on the recommendation
of:
Availability - Services are provided in the Hospice
by staff and volunteers who have specialist training
in counselling, bereavement support, grief and
loss. Each person who approaches the service will
be seen by a qualified counsellor who will decide
with them the appropriate support. This will be
one or a combination of the following:

One to one with a qualified counsellor
-
One to one with a qualified bereavement support
volunteer
-
A bereavement support group
-
Referral to other agencies with more appropriate
skills
Each person's progress is reviewed regularly to
provide the most effective support.
Appointments - Specific bereavement
support staff area available in the Hospice during
office hours from Monday to Friday. However, staff
will always be available to support those in grief
whenever needed and will refer on to bereavement
support staff.
Once contact has been established, clients are
seen on an appointment only basis and are asked
to advise staff of cancellations as soon as possible.
One to one sessions are of 50 minutes duration.
Group sessions are between 2-3 hours.
All clients are seen in the Hospice. Home visits
are not available.
Confidentiality - Bereavement
support is offered totally confidentiallly. Information
shared with a counsellor/support worker is not
divulged to any other person without the express
permission of the Client. If oyu wish to see the
Hospice policy on confidentiality, please ask.
Regulation of Service - All counsellors and support workers adhere to
the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy
Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling
and Psychotherapy.
Improvements to the Service
We are always looking to improve and provide the
best service we can. We will therefore be happy
to receive any comments you have about the service
we offer. At the end of your support sessions,
we will ask for your assessment, either verbally
or by a short questionnaire.
We welcome comments regarding the service we provide
and will use them to help improve our service.
If you have any comments or are unhappy with the

Should you complain, we will:

Reply to your complaint within seven working
days of receiving it

Inform you if we cannot deal fully with your
complaint within seven working days, explaining
why and indicating when you may expect a fully
reply
If you are not satisfied with the response to
your complaint, you can telephone or write to the
Hospice Administrator or Chief Executive at the
address above.
